How Do I Control My Smart Plugs and Switches In the SmartRent Mobile App?

In the SmartRent Mobile App, you have the ability to remotely control your smart plugs and switches, set schedules, and monitor their activity. 


Controlling Your Plugs and Switches:

To control your On/Off (non-dimmer) switches and smart plugs in the SmartRent Mobile App, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the plug or switch on the home screen under My Devices
  2. To turn on the device, tap ON
  3. To turn off the device, tap OFF

Activity, Settings, Schedules:

To view your switch/plug Activity, update Settings, or to set a Schedule in your SmartRent App, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on your plug or switch on the home screen under My Devices
  2. Tap ⋮ 
  3. To view your plug’s or switch’s Activity, tap Activity 
    • This will open your Activity feed so you can see when your plugs and switches have been turned on or off
  4. To view your or update your plug’s or switch’s Settings, tap Settings
    • This will open your device Settings and allow you to change the name of the plug or switch
  5. To create a schedule for your plugs or switches, (i.e. turn on my switch/plug every morning at 8am), tap Schedule 
    • To make a new Schedule, tap +
    • Set the time and the days you want the Schedule to occur
    • Tap Next
    • Set what you want the device to do (turn On or Off)
    • Tap Done after reviewing your Schedule 


Smart Plugs:

Always use your smart plug in accordance with applicable instructions. For safety, you should NOT plug the following things into your smart plug:

  • Your hub
  • Surge protectors or power strips
  • Sensitive electronics (i.e. TVs, computers, etc.)
  • Personal or space heaters
  • Any device that requires more power than your model smart plug is rated for
